N2, an innovative method of communicating and sharing data over a network, ensures instantaneous information transfer between display heads. With a chart card inserted into a display head, detailed chart information is available on all display heads on the vessel. Users can also add waypoint and route information at any display and that data becomes available, in real time, on all other displays. As data is updated between units via Northstar's N2 network, the information is stored on each individual device for redundancy in the unlikely event of unit failure. The also leverages a boat's existing technology through VGA outputs and NTSC video inputs.
